Child Safety

Keeping children and young people safe.

Draft wording based on the church handbook. It will be updated once leadership approves the final text.

Who serves with children

  • Every children's and youth volunteer completes an application and a church-approved screening process.
  • Background checks are used according to the church's risk-management policy and applicable law.
  • Volunteers complete child-safety training and sign the church's policy acknowledgement before serving.
  • Each volunteer is approved by a ministry leader, with ongoing review and training.

How we care for children

  • We follow two-adult, observable-and-interruptible practices, so no adult is alone and unobserved with a child.
  • Children are checked in and out through controlled procedures.
  • Only authorised adults may pick up a child.
  • Minors are never transported without approval.
  • We keep appropriate bathroom and changing procedures.
  • Volunteers never use corporal punishment.
  • Photos or video of children require parent or guardian permission and follow the church's media policy.
  • Emergency contact, allergy, medical and pickup information is kept securely and never shared publicly.

Raising a concern

If you are worried about a child's safety, please speak to a church leader or call 914-382-0098. Every allegation of abuse is taken seriously and handled promptly. Incidents are documented and reported as the law requires. The church never runs its own investigation in place of required reporting or law enforcement. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911.
